How to Start Your First Cycle of Oral Steroids
So you’ve been thinking about using steroids to improve your workout. You’ve probably already been training regularly in the gym and have worked out an awesome diet plan to maximise your natural gains. You never miss a meal and you take care not to upset your regime by missing a workout or overindulging on unhealthy things like fatty foods or alcohol. But your workout has slowed down a bit and you just aren’t seeing the results that you used to. It sounds like you’re in the right frame of mind to make a serious decision about taking your athleticism to the next level.
Your first step should be to read up on what you should and shouldn’t take, how to control any potential negative side effects such as acne or aggression, and how to eventually come off steroids in a safe way using Post Cycle Therapy. You should also have found a safe and reputable steroid source; preferably one that is used by at least 2 of your friends who can vouch for its authenticity.
Starting the First Cycle
By now you will have found your steroid of choice and will be ready to start your first cycle. The steroid you choose should have been around for long enough for you to be sure of its safety. The best ones to choose for your first cycle will be those that have as low an impact upon the liver as possible. All oral steroids are naturally hepatotoxic, as they must be synthesised in such a way that they are able to survive the first pass through your digestive system.
When you start taking your oral steroids you will most likely be taking between 2 and 3 pills a day. Make sure you space out your doses evenly and always take them with a little food. This will help your body to digest them, but won’t decrease their effectiveness.
During Your Steroid Cycle
During your first cycle you should remain hyper-vigilant for any negative or unforeseen side effects. You may not experience any at all, or you may find that you end up feeling quite unwell. The most important thing you can do is remain aware of your own body’s limitations. Stick to your usual workout regime in the first week or so. Steroids can make you feel like you can do more, but muscle tears are very common among steroid users and are something you should aim to avoid.
Coming Off Steroids
Your first oral steroid cycle should last no more than 8 weeks. After your cycle is finished, you will need to immediately move into Post Cycle Therapy. Make sure you have your PCT plan already in place before you finish your last stack. It might be helpful to keep a journal during both your on cycle and off cycle, so that if you choose to go onto Cycle 2 you will be better informed about what to expect the next time around.
